What we do

Arts Waikato works with all arts groups, projects and events that are not for profit and for community benefit.   We also work with schools and local authorites.   'Arts' is a broad term that includes all types of creative endeavour  - visual arts, music, theatre, film, crafts, dance, literature, heritage and Maori arts and other forms of cultural expression.  We cover the entire greater Waikato region below

Our region map

we have two Community Arts Advisors who work with groups, projects & events, one is a general community arts advisor, and the other specialises in working within the maori arts sector.   For more information on the community arts advisory service click here

We also have two Arts Education Advisors who work with Schools.   For more information on our services for schools click here

We also work at a strategic and macro level to:

  • Advocate for greater participation in the arts in our region
  • Develop an awareness of the value of arts and cultural activities in our communities
  • Lobby local and national organisations to support the arts in our region
  • Facilitate collaboration across the sector
  • Promote our region as an arts destination
